Not There Yet…
So the Tigers finally won a game and everyone is quickly back on the wagon saying the slump is over.
Seriously? Did we all watch the same game? We had a 4-0 lead and an 8-4 lead and won it in the bottom of the 9th 10-9. There is nothing to get excited about. Sure the hitting was on last night but the pitching turned sour…again. It should have never gotten to the bottom of the 9th down 9-8 with Papelbon on the mound. We are soooooo lucky to have gotten out of there with a win. Sure, maybe that will spark some life into the team but I have to see it first before I ignore the last 30 some games.
There is still an issue at 3rd base. Guillen looks like crap yet Leyland says that he is going to stick with it and make it work. Good luck with that. The guy refuses to get his knees dirty and always tries to get balls by bending over. A few times last night a simple diving play would have at least blocked the ball not resulting in extra bases or runs being scored. I don’t understand how you can say it will work and them immediately follow it with a comment on how Inge is the one of the best 3rd baseman in the league. COME ON!
I will be at tonights game in the cold (which is what it always is when I get tickets, cold and/or rainy). I am excited to see how Verlander will screw this up. Luckily Beckett hasn’t been the same either. Yes, I am a little bitter right now…
